Class Description
Co-occurring mental health disorders including PTSD/trauma are prevalent among those with gambling disorder. Yet few studies have explored the relationship between gambling and trauma or examined treatments that address both phenomena. Dr. Ledgerwood will discuss research on the link between gambling disorder and trauma/PTSD, provide case examples and discuss strategies for integrated treatment. He will present data from a newly completed clinical trial that compares an integrated treatment designed to address trauma and gambling concurrently (Seeking Safety) to one that addresses gambling disorder alone (CBT). He will also, more broadly discuss research on the treatment of co-occurring gambling disorder and mental health problems, and provide recommendations for treating disorders concurrently.
